Geometry of Nature - Nature of Geomety

since 2018

Giclée print on baryta, 91 x 132 cm (35 13/16“ x 52“)

Reversing the characteristics of traditional landscape images, this series follows a different intention. Artificially created and natural elements become tools for a geometrically motivated composition originated in existing situations. The crop of this situation becomes the basis for the later result. So to speak, the nature of geometry is placed above the geometry of nature.

The location in which the basic photo is taken is of no importance. The elements are mentally reduced to their geometric form to find place in a balanced composition. The composition is strengthened by retouching all irritations and collaging the elements to its visioned shape. The documentative character of the photo is no longer applicable, the photographical techniques become merely a tool to follow an artistic intention.

In the process of creating the picture, nature and artificially created elements are placed in a context of one another. This phenomenon imposes thoughts on an etic meta-level. Human intervention in nature is also a form-creating act. When composing the picture, I am aware of this meta-level, but do not use it as a guide for the process. Reflections on moral issues are left to the viewer.
