Y - Under the Bridge

2015 to 2018

In the mid-1950s, the idea for the expressway Y was born in the city of Zurich. A connection of the highways from Chur, St. Gallen and Bern was to be built through the center of Zurich. However, only the Milchbuck tunnel and the beginning of the Sihlhochstrasse, which was to lead from the Allmend to Zurich's main train station, were realized.

The Sihlhochstrasse and the unfinished stub between Sihlcity and the Sihlhölzli sports facility is considered an "eyesore in Wiedikon*". The alternative project, the bypass road that was ultimately built, now runs partially across the Zurich Allmend.

The visual and atmospheric effect of the built-over areas is primarily characterized by the encounter of nature and technology. Human intervention in an evolved environment could hardly be more brutal. Accordingly, the change in spatial feeling is immense. New situations arise that, depending on the season, can seem almost surreal. In the photo project, the goal is primarily to capture the moods that this urban situation creates. The interplay and contrast between nature, technology and living space is shown.
